Ampath: A Key Player in the Deliverance of South African Healthcare

CARLSBAD, CA, October 20, 2011 /Public Relations PR News/ -- Ampath, one of the leading pathology testing laboratories in South Africa has just moved into its own brand new, state-of-the-art reference laboratory. Located in Centurion, the new facility is now functioning as the group's flagship National Reference Laboratory. The new laboratory utilities the latest technology and has recently performed well in the company's internal continuous improvement review.
Continuous improvement is a key focus of Ampath. "Accreditation is vital in our group," asserts Dr Jan van Rooyen, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ampath and nearly all of the company's laboratories are accredited by SANAS, South Africa's National Accreditation System. "We have just gone through internal audits in our new lab and it did very well. We see accreditation as the cornerstone of continuous improvement in quality," van Rooyen adds.
Ampath has a dedicated accreditation department to deal with its recognition and quality assurance certifications, which van Rooyen says are all geared towards "improving the local contact, quality and efficiency that's required to add value to the patients' visit to the doctor."
As well as aiming to continuously improving its efficiency and services, Ampath also invests heavily in its staff and technology, and is hoping to work with the government in SA to implement the National Health Insurance scheme.
