Holidaymakers Want Tipping Etiquette Advice Over Everything Else, Says Carrentals.co.uk Survey
Over 1,000 travellers surveyed reveal tipping knowledge when abroad is more important than legal issues.
August 18, 2011 /Public Relations PR News/ -- Rather than find out about festivals and legal issues, holidaymakers from the UK prefer to find out about the tipping etiquette for when they visit foreign countries - according to the latest Carrentals.co.uk car hire user survey.
Holidaymakers were asked what they consider to be most important and it turned out that knowing what to tip in which countries was more useful to them than learning about any legal issues of the country they are visiting. The car hire UK users and customers were spread across the country to give an accurate insight and sample.
Countries in the Mediterranean expect tips on bills, as does the USA, but in other areas there could be a no-tipping policy. Carrentals.co.uk pointed out that even in some cities, some restaurants and hotels accept tips, where others do not. This can cause confusion and frustration, not to mention embarrassment when it comes to paying the bill.
"I know firsthand what it's like to feel awkward when paying the bill in a strange place! One time I paid 15% and it turned out to not be enough, which was terribly embarrassing. Tourists need to know what to pay and when to pay, and that's why we have included a tipping page on our site to help people", said Gareth Robinson, Managing Director of Carrentals.co.uk. He added, "Whether it is taxis, hotels or restaurants, we have listened to the results of the survey and are trying to help out where we can."
The car rental comparison site, Carrentals.co.uk, is an award-winning comparator that compares prices of Alamo, Budget, Sixt, Holiday Autos and Auto Europe, and to date, has completed 650,000 rentals. More information is at www.carrentals.co.uk.
