Chicago Litigation Lawyer Kerry Peck Co-Hosts Fundraiser with Special Guest, Mayor Rahm Emanuel
Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky joined hands with one of Chicago's leading estate planning attorneys, Kerry Peck to host a political fundraising luncheon. The elder care law attorney and the politician have worked together for many years.
CHICAGO, IL, August 17, 2011 /Public Relations PR News/ -- Chicago litigation lawyer, Kerry Peck recently co-hosted a fundraising luncheon with Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky at the Union League Club in Chicago attended by special guest, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
The luncheon was organized to raise money for the Progressive Choices PAC (a political fundraising committee), which was started and is supported by Congresswoman Schakowsky to donate money to other local and national house and senate candidates. Schakowsky is a leading elder rights advocate in the House.
Jan Schakowsky serves in the House Democratic leadership as a Chief Deputy Whip. Serving since 1999, she represents Chicago's northern suburbs including Evanston, Skokie, Wilmette, Park Ridge, Des Plaines and Rosemont.
The PAC luncheon was attended by the city's mayor Rahm Emanuel who was the lead sponsor in the U.S. House of Representatives of the Elder Justice Act as an Illinois Congressman. Emanuel also discussed his new city-wide recycling initiative, his goal to extend the school day for Chicago public schools and addressed his push to put more Chicago police on the streets. State's Attorney Anita Alvarez and Julie Hamos, Director of Healthcare and Family Services, were among 80 other Chicago luminaries who attended the event.
The joint efforts of Peck, then White House Chief of Staff Emanuel and Congresswoman Schakowsky resulted in the Elder Justice Act being enacted.
"The media and the 24-hour news cycle only focus on the negative of politics and office holders, and they don't report the success. The Elder Justice Act is demonstration of what team work and leadership between Jan and the Mayor can accomplish for the older adults of Illinois and our country," concluded Peck.
Having often been involved with financial exploitation cases, Peck's passion lies in elder care law reforms. As a premier Chicago elder care law attorney, he was hired by the City of Chicago Department of Aging to rewrite the State of Illinois Elder Abuse and Neglect Act. As Chairman of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys Political Action Committee role, he approached Congresswoman Schakowsky to be the sponsor in Washington for the Federal Elder Justice Act who readily agreed.
"Apart from her tenacious efforts for elder care law, Jan has been outstanding in her leadership as a consumer advocate, health care proponent and champion of women's rights. She has delivered many dramatic and sustainable legislative changes and I am proud to be supporting the Progressive Choices PAC alongside her," said Kerry Peck of leading Chicago based estate planning attorneys, Peck Bloom, LLC (http://www.peckbloom.com).
